Heritage, Medicine and communityThe Chinese Medical Association of Atlanta (CMAATL) is dedicated to empowering physicians of Chinese heritage by fostering professional growth, cultural unity, and service to our communities. We strive to advance medical excellence through education, collaboration, and advocacy, while honoring the diverse backgrounds of our members—uniting individuals across all birthplaces, citizenship, and generations under a shared heritage. Committed to equity and inclusivity, we bridge gaps in healthcare access by supporting underserved populations, promoting health education, and amplifying the voices of Chinese heritage physicians. Together, we aim to strengthen Atlanta’s medical community, cultivate mentorship, and inspire the next generation of healers—rooted in compassion, innovation, and cultural pride. |

June is Brain Health Awareness Month June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness about brain health and supporting those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disorder that impairs memory, thinking, and behavior, and is the most common cause of dementia in older adults. Early signs of dementia include memory loss that affects daily life, difficulty solving problems, confusion with time or place, trouble with speaking or writing, and changes in mood or personality. If you or someone you know shows these signs, early medical evaluation is key. While there's no cure, healthy habits can support brain health: regular physical activity, balanced diet (like the Mediterranean diet), mental stimulation, quality sleep, managing chronic conditions, avoiding smoking, and staying socially active. Doctors who diagnose and treat dementia include primary care physicians, neurologists, geriatricians, psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, and physiatrists (PM&R). Early detection and support can improve quality of life for patients and families. Please consult your physician for appropriate screenings and risk assessments. | Explore our educational resources—created or curated by our physician members! |
